In the future this will increasingly be more relevant as we have automated appliances, curtains, room temperature controls, and solar energy generated controlling these devices. Just remember costs. In order to get a good return on the solar so some guy doesn’t go “SEE, I told you solar wasn’t worth it” always, always, keep cost of technology for energy management in check.
There are some great devices coming on the market which will identify how much solar is being generated and turn off or on devices.
For now simply get some solar going, get the power into your distribution board and let it do its thing. You can always add stuff when the price is right.
